What this is
This guide explains how to refresh a cohort within a campaign.
Refreshing a cohort allows you to replace an existing cohort with another one, copying its full configuration, including plays, copy, and audience, into the selected cohort.
When to use this
Use this feature when:
- You want to reuse a previous cohort’s setup
- You want to align multiple cohorts with the same configuration
- You want to avoid rebuilding plays, copy, and audience manually
- You are relaunching or updating a campaign with an existing setup
How it works
Refreshing a cohort replaces the selected cohort with another cohort from the same campaign.
When you refresh a cohort:
- The selected cohort becomes an exact copy of the source cohort
- All associated assets are copied, including:
- Plays
- Copy
- Audience (when applicable)
This action is permanent and overrides the existing configuration of the cohort.
The audience behavior depends on campaign settings. If the campaign audience type is set to Editable, the refreshed cohort will use the most recent account list or buying circle. If the campaign audience type is set to Static, the refreshed cohort will keep the same audience as the source cohort.
How to refresh a cohort
- Go to your campaign
- Open the Details tab
- In the Settings area, locate the Refresh Cohort option
- Click Refresh Cohort
- Select the cohort you want to copy from
- Click Confirm
After confirming, the platform will begin processing the update.
What happens after refreshing
- The cohort is updated to match the selected source cohort
- All plays and configuration are copied over
- The campaign may take a few moments to process the update
Once processing is complete, the refreshed cohort will match the original cohort you selected.
Important notes
- This action is permanent
Refreshing a cohort replaces its existing configuration and cannot be undone - Audience processing may take time
After refreshing, the audience may take a few moments to reprocess - Launch status may not update immediately
If plays were previously launch-ready, they may take time to return to that state while the audience is processing - Not all campaign types behave the same
- For contact-based campaigns, the audience and buying circle will be copied
- For campaign types without an audience (such as geofencing or contextual), no audience will be attached after refresh
