This guide explains how to install and use Propensity Account History in Salesforce.
The updated experience provides a more detailed and interactive view of account engagement directly inside Salesforce, including:
- Account engagement status
- Recommendations and next steps
- Ad and website engagement trends
- Audience performance insights
- ABM activity timelines
- Intent and Propensity scoring information
This update is currently available for Salesforce. HubSpot support is planned for a future release.
When to use this
Use this guide when:
- Installing or updating the Propensity Salesforce package
- Accessing the updated Account History experience
- Reviewing account engagement activity in Salesforce
- Troubleshooting visibility or loading issues
How the update works
The new Account History experience is delivered through the Propensity install package.
For new users:
- Installing the package once is sufficient
For existing users:
- One additional update through the installer is required to enable automatic future updates
Installing or Updating the Package
Note: Starting with the May 2026 release of the Salesforce and HubSpot integration package, updates are now applied automatically. If you installed or updated the package on or after May 2026, the steps below are not required, you'll automatically receive future updates without needing to reinstall or update the package yourself.
Step 1: Open Workspace Settings in Propensity
In Propensity:
- Go to Workspace Settings
- Navigate to Install Packages
- Click Go to Installer
Step 2: Update the Salesforce Package
The installer will:
- Install the Salesforce/Hubspot package if it is not already installed
- Update your existing package if you already have Salesforce/Hubspot connected
After this update:
- Future package updates will happen automatically
- You will not need to manually reinstall future updates
Using Account History in Salesforce
Step 1: Add the Account Profile component to the Account layout
To display Propensity Account History inside Salesforce Account records, you must add the Visualforce component to your Account page layout.
In Salesforce:
- Log in to Salesforce and open Setup
- Click Object Manager
- Select Account
- Click Page Layouts
- Open the layout you want to update
- Add a new section where you want the Account History component to appear
- Example section names:
- Propensity Account History
- Propensity Account Profile
- Example section names:
- On the left side of the layout editor, scroll down and select Visualforce Pages
- In the Quick Find box, search for:
- Account Profile
- Drag the Visualforce page into the new section
- Click Save
After saving the layout, the Propensity Account History component will appear inside Account records.
- Go to the Edit object section
- Go to Page Layouts
- Drag Propensity Account Profile
- Go to Visualforce page layout and change height pixels to 600
- Go back to the Account section in Salesforce
- Access the account you would like to view
- Click Setup under Enable Propensity Account Profile
Once the setup is complete, you should see the following message:
Step 2: View Propensity Account History
After installation:
- Open an Account record in Salesforce
- Navigate to the Details tab
- Scroll down to the Propensity Account History section
This section contains the updated Visualforce experience.
Accessing the dashboard from Hubspot
Similarly to Salesforce, you can access the dashboard using Hubspot.
Step 1: Access the layout editor
- Log in to HubSpot as an admin user.
- Navigate to a company record and click the Customize gear icon at the top right of the center pane.
- On the subsequent page, click the view that you want to add the Propensity Account Profile to.
Step 2: Add the Account Profile card
- Select the center pane tab where you'd like to insert the Account Profile, or alternatively use the + button in the top right of the center pane to add a new tab called Account Profile.
- Click the + button (Add card) in the tab you've selected
- In the drawer that opens on the right, click on the Card Library tab and search for Propensity Account Profile.
- Click Add Card next to the search result.
- Close the right-side drawer and click Save and Exit at the top right of the layout editor.
Step 3: View the Account Profile
- Reload a company record page and click on the Open Account Profile button in the newly-added card. This will open up the company's Propensity Account Profile dashboard in a modal window.
What You Can View
The updated Account History experience provides several account engagement views and insights.
Account engagement status
At the top of the experience, you can view the account’s current engagement stage, such as:
- Unengaged: Default state
- Aware: Has ad impressions in the last 90 days
- Engaged: Has a sales touch and a marketing email send
- Active: Has active signals in the last 90 days (e.g. website visits, clicks, sales responses)
- Opportunity: Has an opportunity in Propensity’s database (last 90 days)
Next steps
The experience includes:
- Recommended next steps
- Suggested actions for the account
- Engagement summaries based on account activity
Trends
You can review trends related to:
- Ad engagement
- Website engagement
- Signal Intelligence (emerging, fading or persistent intent signals from the account)
- Intent Signals
Coverage
The section provides visibility into:
- How your audience is being covered
- The most visited website pages
- Activity breakdown (how your audience has been interacting with you)
Contacts
Your list of contacts, including information about:
- Their status (untouched, reached, engaged)
- Contact’s titles
- Date of last activity
Troubleshooting
Users cannot see or access Propensity Account History in Salesforce
If you receive an error message when opening Propensity Account History in Salesforce after updating the package, the issue may be related to Visualforce page permissions.
Option 1: Update profile permissions
To enable access through a Salesforce profile:
- Log in to Salesforce and open Setup
- Open the affected user’s profile
Locate Enabled Visualforce Page Access
Click Edit
- Move Propensity_Account_History to the enabled list
- Click Save
Option 2: Create a permission set
You can also grant access using a dedicated permission set:
- Log in to Salesforce and open Setup
- Search for Permission Sets
- Create a new permission set (for example: “Propensity Account History”)
- Open Visualforce Page Access
- Add Propensity_Account_History
- Save the permission set
- Assign the permission set to the appropriate users
500 errors or server-side errors
If you receive a 500 error or a broken Account History screen, the issue may be related to the Propensity application itself. Please escalate this issue to Propensity Support.
