What This Is
The Weekly Media Spend Report is an automated email summary that helps you monitor recorded advertising spending across campaigns in your Propensity workspace.
The report provides a breakdown of media costs, contact and intent data fees, discounts, and spending from supported advertising platforms, helping you understand where your marketing budget is being used.
It also highlights unavailable or incomplete spending information so you can distinguish recorded costs from amounts that may still be missing.
This report is informational and is not an invoice or a statement of the amount you owe.
Where to Find This Report
The Weekly Media Spend Report is delivered directly to subscribed users by email. It is scheduled to be processed every Friday, using U.S. Eastern Time, and summarizes spending from the previous Friday through Thursday.
You do not need to manually generate the report. Once subscribed, eligible users receive it automatically.
How to Subscribe or Unsubscribe
An Organization Administrator can manage the subscription for each user within a workspace.
- Open your Propensity workspace
- Go to Workspace Settings -> Workspace Users
- Find the user and click View
- Select Edit
- Under Email Communication Subscriptions, enable Subscribe to Weekly Spend Report
- Click Save
To unsubscribe, follow the same steps, disable the option, and save your changes.
Subscriptions are managed individually for each user and workspace. The user must also be active in the workspace and have an active account to be eligible to receive the report.
For more information, see How to Update Workspace User Settings.
When to Use This
Use the Weekly Media Spend Report when you want to:
- Monitor recorded advertising spending across your campaigns each week
- Understand how much was spent on PDN media and associated data fees
- Review discounts applied to campaign spending
- Compare recorded spending across supported advertising platforms
- Identify campaigns or platforms with incomplete or unavailable spending information
- Keep track of weekly marketing expenditures without manually opening individual campaign reports
Understanding the Reporting Period
At the top of each email, you will find two important details:
- Workspace: The Propensity workspace whose campaign spending is included in the report
- Timeframe: The seven-day period covered by the report
Each report covers the previous Friday through Thursday.
For example, a report processed on Friday, November 6, 2026, covers October 30 through November 5, 2026.
How spending dates are determined
Different types of spending follow different reporting date rules:
- PDN Media: Uses the recorded daily media spending dates
- Contact Data and Intent Data: Uses the original creation date of the corresponding fee
- Discounts: Uses the original creation date of the discount
- External advertising platforms: Uses the reporting calendar associated with the respective data source
Data fees and discounts are assigned to their original creation week using Eastern Time.
If an existing fee or discount is edited later, it remains associated with its original reporting week, but its updated recorded amount is used.
Because different sources may use different reporting calendars, spending totals may not align exactly with other reports covering similar dates.
What the Report Includes
The email organizes spending into separate sections, allowing you to review costs associated with individual campaigns and advertising platforms.
Depending on the spending recorded and available for your workspace, the report may include:
- PDN Spend
- Facebook Spend
- LinkedIn Spend
- Google Spend
Each available section groups spending by campaign and provides a corresponding total or subtotal.
PDN Spend
The PDN Spend section summarizes spending associated with the Propensity Display Network (PDN), including media costs and applicable data fees or discounts.
The table includes the following columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Campaign | Name of the campaign associated with the recorded spending |
| PDN Media | Recorded media spending associated with the Propensity Display Network |
| Contact Data | Recorded fees associated with contact data |
| Intent Data | Recorded fees associated with intent data |
| Discounts | Recorded discount adjustments associated with the campaign |
| Total Spend | Combined amount of PDN Media, Contact Data, Intent Data, and signed Discounts |
How Total Spend is calculated
For each campaign, the total is calculated as:
Total Spend = PDN Media + Contact Data + Intent Data + Discounts
Discounts retain their recorded sign. A negative discount reduces the total amount.
For example, consider a campaign with the following spending:
| Cost category | Amount |
|---|---|
| PDN Media | $500 |
| Contact Data | $40 |
| Intent Data | $20 |
| Discounts | -$60 |
| Total Spend | $500 |
In this example, the campaign has $560 in media and data costs, offset by a $60 discount, resulting in $500 of total recorded PDN spending.
All amounts in the report are displayed in USD.
Understanding the Workspace Total
At the bottom of the PDN Spend table, Workspace total summarizes the recorded PDN spending across the campaigns included in that section.
Each column is totaled separately, allowing you to review overall media costs, data fees, discounts, and combined PDN spending.
Important: The PDN Workspace total does not include Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google advertising spending. Those platforms are reported separately.
Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google Spend
When applicable, the report includes separate spending sections for supported external advertising platforms:
- Facebook Spend: Recorded advertising spending associated with Facebook campaigns
- LinkedIn Spend: Recorded advertising spending associated with LinkedIn campaigns
- Google Spend: Recorded advertising spending associated with Google Ads campaigns
Each section displays the campaigns with available spending information and their corresponding Total Spend.
A total or subtotal at the bottom summarizes the recorded spending for that particular platform.
These sections help you understand how advertising expenditures are distributed across different channels without combining them into the PDN total.
How to interpret platform totals
Each platform's total represents the spending recorded for that platform during the reporting period.
For example, if the report shows $1,000 in PDN Spend and $400 in LinkedIn Spend, those are separate amounts. The PDN total does not already include the LinkedIn amount.
If a platform has incomplete spending information, its displayed subtotal may include only campaigns for which spending records were available.
A platform section may also be absent when no applicable spending information is available. Do not interpret an absent section as confirmation that spending was zero.
Reviewing Individual Campaigns
Within each spending section, campaigns appear as individual rows.
You can use these rows to identify which campaigns account for the largest portions of your recorded spending.
For campaigns with similar or identical names, the report keeps separate campaign records rather than automatically combining them based on name.
To investigate a specific campaign:
- Locate the campaign in the relevant spending section
- Click its Campaign name
- Propensity opens the campaign details page, where you can explore additional campaign information
This is particularly useful when you notice unexpected costs or want to compare the weekly summary with the campaign's performance information.
Understanding Missing or Incomplete Spending Data
Not every report will contain complete spending information for every campaign or platform.
Some amounts may be unavailable because their corresponding spending records have not yet been fully captured or verified.
The report includes messages to help you identify these situations.
Common Messages and Their Meanings
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| No PDN spend recorded for this period | No eligible PDN spending was recorded for the reporting period |
| Propensity totals unavailable - source data incomplete | The available information was insufficient to produce a complete PDN total |
| Recorded spend subtotal | The displayed amount represents available spending records, but some campaign amounts may be missing |
| Spend for some campaigns is not yet available | Some campaigns have recorded spending included in the total, while information for other campaigns is unavailable |
How to Interpret These Messages
No spending recorded
When the report says no PDN spending was recorded, it means the report did not find eligible spending for that period. It does not necessarily establish that no advertising activity occurred.
Totals unavailable
When the report indicates that totals are unavailable because source data is incomplete, it means a reliable total could not be produced.
This should not be interpreted as zero spending.
Recorded spend subtotal
A subtotal represents the spending that could be included using the available records.
For example, if three campaigns are included in a platform section but complete spending information is available for only two, the reported subtotal may reflect those two campaigns rather than the full platform expenditure.
The distinction is important: A recorded total, a partial subtotal, and an unavailable total communicate different levels of information.
Review these notices before comparing spending between campaigns, advertising platforms, or reporting periods.
Important Notes
- This report is not an invoice: It summarizes recorded campaign spending for informational purposes and should not be used as a statement of payment due
- Platform totals are separate: PDN Spend, Facebook Spend, LinkedIn Spend, and Google Spend are reported independently, and the PDN total does not include the other platforms
- Spending data may be incomplete: Missing or unavailable amounts should not automatically be treated as zero spending
- Date boundaries may vary: PDN media, data fees, discounts, and external advertising platforms may use different reporting date conventions
- Edited fees and discounts remain in their original week: Changes to an existing fee or discount affect its recorded amount but do not move it to a new reporting period
- Subscriptions are user-specific: An Organization Administrator manages each user's subscription within the corresponding workspace
