What this is
In-Flight Audience Updates allow you to update account lists and buying circles during an active Contact-Based Marketing campaign and sync those changes into live Plays.
Previously, audience changes made after launch would not affect active Plays. With In-Flight Audience Updates enabled, updated contacts can be processed and added to active campaigns without relaunching the Play.
When to use this
Use this feature when:
- Updating buying circles during an active campaign
- Adding new contacts to a live Play
- Refining audience targeting after launch
- Expanding or narrowing account targeting mid-campaign
- Keeping active campaigns aligned with updated audience criteria
Availability
In-Flight Audience Updates are currently available for:
- Workspace on Unlimited Tier
- New Contact-Based Marketing campaigns
- Propensity Display Network (PDN) Plays only
Additional channels may be supported in future updates.
How In-Flight Audience Updates work
When enabled, audience updates made after launch can be synced into active Plays.
This includes updates to:
- Buying circles
- Account lists
- Audience targeting criteria
Once synced, the active Play begins targeting the updated enriched audience.
Campaign delivery continues while audience updates are being processed.
Enabling In-Flight Audience Updates
To enable the feature:
- Create a new campaign
- Select Contact-Based Marketing
- Select the Audience Type as Editable
- Enable:
- Allow In-Flight Audience Updates
After enabled, updates made to account lists and buying circles can later be synced into active Plays.
Updating Audiences During an Active Campaign
Step 1: Edit the buying circle or account list
Inside the campaign:
- Open the Audience tab
- Edit the buying circle or account list
- Make your changes
- Save the updates
For example, you may:
- Add additional seniority filters
- Adjust targeting conditions
- Expand or narrow the audience
Step 2: Wait for enrichment to complete
After saving your changes, the platform will automatically re-enrich the updated audience when the hourly automation runs. You do not need to manually trigger re-enrichment.
Campaign delivery continues while the audience is being processed.
Step 3: Audience sync (automatic)
Once re-enrichment is complete, the hourly automation will detect the updated audience and automatically sync it to your active PDN plays. You do not need to click Sync All for this to happen.
If you want the sync to occur immediately without waiting for the next automation cycle, you can manually trigger it:
- Open the Launch tab
- Click Update Audiences
- Confirm it again by pressing Sync All
The platform will then:
- Refresh active PDN Plays
- Process updated contacts
- Apply audience updates to the live campaign
Processing time
Audience updates typically take:
- Around 2 hours under normal conditions
- Up to 24 hours during peak processing times
Campaigns continue running while updates are processed.
How this differs from previous behavior
Previously, editing a buying circle already used in a live campaign created a new buying circle and did not update the active Play.
With In-Flight Audience Updates enabled:
- Existing buying circles can be updated
- Changes can be synced into active Plays
- Updated contacts can be added to live campaigns
Important considerations
- This feature is currently available only for PDN Plays
- Your Audience Type needs to be Editable
- Audience updates must finish enriching before syncing
- Syncing audiences does not interrupt active campaign delivery
- The Sync All button refreshes active Plays using the latest audience configuration
